Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston. He's the one to surround Elisa with the right staff for an important record such as "Pipes & Flowers". Anticipated by the single "Sleeping in your hand" Elisa's first album is released in September 1997 and has sold more than 300.000 units until today, also thanks to the singles "Labyrinth" and "A feast for me". During the spring of 1998 "Pipes & Flowers" is launched all across Europe; in the same period Elisa is awarded with "Premio Italiano della Musica" (an important Italian prize) as "Breakthrough Artist". During the following summer and fall Elisa takes part to important music festivals (Heineken Jammin' Festival in Imola)

and performs as a special guest at Eros Ramazzotti's European Tour. During October of the same year Elisa publishes a new single, "Cure me", produced by Darren Allison (Skunk Anansie, Spiritualized), included in the new release of "Pipes & Flowers". Meanwhile, Elisa starts working on her new album: she writes and records at home the demos of the songs which will be in the record, then she moves to London to work on the album pre-production. Three outstanding producers work on the new songs: after Darren Allison Elisa works with Howie B (Bjork, U2, Les Negresses Vertes) and Roberto Vernetti. The team of producers is then joined by Mauro
