An album was all it took to launch Elisa as a major star on the Italian music scene: that album was "Pipes & Flowers", released in 1997, a little more than four years ago. At that time Elisa was "nothing more" than Caterina Caselli's new discovery. Mrs. Caselli, an exceptional talent scout, had Elisa sign up with her record label two years before. But thinking that Elisa had done nothing before means making a big mistake. Born in Monfalcone, in the whereabouts of Gorizia, next to which she is still living, Elisa grew up with a strong passion for music and art, among poems by Rudyard Kipling and the dramatically different ones by Jim Morrison. She went through different and fascinating experiences ranging from cabaret to piano bars, from swing orchestras to punk bands.    

All those elements build up the unique and kaleidoscopic profile of Elisa's distinctive musical personality. In 1995 Elisa, whose songs are written in English, meets Caterina Caselli who, after listening to some of Elisa's demos, decides to make her work directly in Berkeley, USA, well known for its Music School. There Elisa attends the Music School and mingles with the musicians hanging out in clubs around there. She also works on the songs which will be part of her first album, due to be produced by Corrado Rustici, a "V.I.P." in international music.
